Why Outdoor Family Sessions Are Our Absolute Favorite

Give us a golden field, a wooded trail, or a quiet lakeside — and a real family that laughs together — and we are in our happy place. Outdoor sessions have an energy that's hard to replicate anywhere else.
Kids especially tend to open up outside. There's room to run, explore, and just be themselves. That's when the magic happens — a spontaneous piggyback ride, a little one stopping to examine a bug, siblings chasing each other through the grass. These are the real moments, the ones you can't stage.
Our favorite time to shoot outdoors is the golden hour — about an hour before sunset. The light is warm, soft, and absolutely gorgeous on everyone. If you want that glowy, magazine-worthy look for your family photos, that's the window.
Not sure where to shoot? Don't worry — we have a list of our favorite local spots and we're always happy to scout somewhere new. The location matters, but what matters more is that your family feels comfortable and has fun. When you're relaxed, it shows in every single frame.
