Tips for Getting Genuine Smiles from Kids During a Photo Session

Here's a little secret: the best smiles from kids never come from saying 'cheese.' They come from something that genuinely makes them laugh, something surprising, or a moment when they forget there's a camera at all.
Some of our go-to tricks: asking kids to whisper a secret in their parent's ear. Challenging them to a staring contest (they always crack). Asking them what they had for breakfast in the most dramatic voice possible. The weirder, the better.
We also love letting kids take small breaks to just run around or explore. A few minutes of free play resets their energy and gets those natural, happy expressions flowing again.
Parents: the biggest thing you can do is keep the mood light and fun. When kids see that you're relaxed and laughing, they follow your lead. The more joy you bring to the session, the more joy we get to capture.
